Local Artist Spotlight: Mark Paskiet and the World of “Caricature Realism”

Local artist Mark Paskiet has been creating art since he was just eight years old, and his passion has only grown stronger with time. Today, he describes his unique style as “Caricature Realism,” a blend of photographic accuracy and imaginative exaggeration that brings familiar faces and scenes to life in unexpected ways.

Mark’s process begins behind the lens. He takes his own photographs, then transforms them digitally using two primary tools: AutoDesk Sketchbook and PicsArt. “I first take a photograph, then I paint it,” he explains. What makes his work stand out is not just the software, but his deep understanding of how each program functions. Once he mastered them, a whole new creative world opened up.

“I realized I could download regular photos and turn them into anything I wanted,” Mark says. From subtle enhancements to bold, animated transformations, his pieces often take around five hours to complete, depending on the complexity of the image.

Through Caricature Realism, Mark Paskiet continues to push creative boundaries, blending technology and artistry to reimagine reality—one photo at a time. His work is a reminder that with the right tools, vision, and dedication, everyday images can become something truly extraordinary.
